There’s the Universe, Abattoir, and Knackers (the “trinity”). But they aren’t the only angels.

This is the inside view of “Dog E. Cassiopeia”, Cassi for short.

In the Taur Brazen universe – but in a different story – there sits a large cage with “Dog E-” painted on the side. The “E” is cut off by a tarp over it, so the protagonists think the spelling is just a butchered version of “doggie”. After releasing what looks to be a tiny Rottweiler creature inside, the tarp is taken off. The “E” starts the word “eater”. Cassiopeia is her real name. Her nickname is the Dog Eater, for her insatiable appetite for Canidae. And there’s a dog show nearby…

While the Universe represents everything, Abattoir starlight, and Knackers dark matter, Cassi represents the expansion of the universe. She generally stays about the size of a Rottweiler. She does expand when eating. This is a glimpse of her interior during a feeding frenzy. Actual exterior concept art is still a work in progress.

Cassi is an unrelated angel to the “trinity” family. The Universe created Abattoir (their daughter) and Knackers (their child). Cassi and other angels (number currently unknown) generally remain distant. Any non-familial interactions are standoffish, maybe out of respect or fear of each other.

Cassi is a direct inspiration from the kennel-thing in John Carpenter’s The Thing. The fact that she’s a Rottweiler is not intended to denote an aggressive dog and her focus on consuming dogs is not meant to resemble hatred on my part. It’s simply a love for kennel-thing (my favorite monster), fascination with the anatomy of dogs, and spinning this fascination into a nightmare fantasy; and not intended for commentary. The Rottweiler is used for a reason throughout the story…
